'Nioh' Studio to Create Open-World Japan-Set RPG 'Rise of the Ronin'

Team Ninja, the studio behind the action role-playing Nioh franchise, is working on a new title.

Rise of the Ronin is an open-world combat-focused action RPG set in Japan.

The game takes place at the end of Japan's 300-year-long Edo Period, also known as "Bakumatsu," 

When the country ended its isolationist foreign policy and opened up to the West.

Users will take on the role of a Ronin, a warrior who is not bound by the orders of any master.

Ronin will use Katanas, firearms, and other weapons from the 1863 period.

Rise of the Ronin is set to release as a PlayStation exclusive in 2024.
