This game was way ahead of its time. The storyline of this game features an American prisoner of War during WWII who breaks out of the cell and sneaks around the Nazi fortification, he fights enemy soldiers and steals valuable documents before finally escaping.

Players can shoot the Nazi soldiers with a Mauzer pistol but the best part about this game is that it is filled with stealth elements as players can slip past their enemies using disguises found in crates. Players also need to find ammo and food to restore health which can all be found in crates.
This was also one of the first games to feature enemies with audible voices. Unlike the previous games, Wolfenstein 3D is played in first person where players can freely move and defeat their enemies. Players start each episode with a handgun and a knife but can find additional weapons through the levels including a machine gun and a chain gun.

Return To Castle Wolfstein lets players step into the familiar shoes of B.J. Blazkowicz who is tasked by a secret fictional committee to investigate a report which suggests that the Nazis are researching paranormal elements at a dig site in Egypt.
After witnessing the Nazi’s research Blazkowicz and his partner are captured and imprisoned in Castle Wolfenstein. The players then need to find a way out while continuing their investigation into the Nazi’s evil activities.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein shares a lot in common with its predecessors with players needing to shoot Nazis with weapons found in the environment while collecting ammunition and discovering secrets but the difference is that the environments are much bigger and more detailed than the previous games.
