As with all the games in the franchise, players in this game are also given control of Lara Croft as she travels through the tropical regions of America while taking on the lethal paramilitary organization Trinity, her main objective is to stop the Mayan apocalypse that she has unleashed before.

The gameplay of this game has been improved over its predecessors, the swimming mechanics have been revised as our protagonist can now hold her breath for a longer period due to the introduction of air pockets.

Like all the games in the Tomb Raider franchise, this game is also played from a third-person perspective with Lara being able to perform numerous badass moves to defeat her enemies and also while climbing.

The Walking Dead Season 1
Release DateApril 24, 2012
Developer(s)Telltale Games
PlatformsPC, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Mobile

Ah! The Walking Dead Season 1 truly earns its spot on our list today as it is without a doubt one of the best action-adventure, zombie apocalypse games ever made. This game takes place in the same fictional world that has been showcased in the comics, players in this game take control of a university professor and a convicted criminal named Lee Everett.

This game starts with Lee being escorted to prison by a police officer after he got convicted of murder, that is also when the zombie apocalypse breaks out and people all around the world start to panic.

The protagonist of this game (Lee Everett) becomes a protective figure to a young girl named Clementine, whom he randomly crosses paths with while attempting to escape the zombies. The relationship between Lee and Clementine is kind of similar to that of Joel and Ellie as both of them go through a lot of hardships together.

Lee helps Clementine find her parents throughout the game as she was all alone at home when the zombie apocalypse broke out. The gameplay of this game is really simple, and players can interact with every single object in this game.

Like The Last of Us, this game also doesn’t feature an open-world environment and only features a limited playable area where players can look for clues and hints that would help them progress further into the game. Players will come across a lot of choices throughout the storyline where they need to make tough decisions that will decide the outcome of certain situations, and trust me, the choices are really hard!

The visual quality of this game is cartoonish and honestly, it looks good and will give you a comic-like feel while playing the game. You’re missing out on a lot of action-packed gameplay and a great storyline if you haven’t played this game yet.

3. Batman Arkham Series

Batman Arkham Series
First ReleaseAugust 25, 2009
Developer(s)Rocksteady Studios, WB Games Montreal, Splash Damage, Human Head Studios, NetherRealm Studios, Armature Studios, Turn Me Up, Turbine Inc.
PlatformsPC, PS3, PS4, PS5, PS Vita, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Mobile

Get ready to save Gotham City from terrifying villains and eliminate tons of bad guys! The Batman Arkham franchise consists of four main entries which are Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Arkham Origins, and lastly Arkham Knight. Honestly, the storyline of all these games is top-notch, and numerous superhero games to this day lack many elements that these games had back then.

Arkham Asylum is the first game in this stunning franchise, which takes place in Arkham Island, and once again, Batman attempts to stop his renowned foe, Joker, who plots to seize control of Arkham Asylum and trap Batman on the island! Will you be able to get Batman out of there?

The second game in the franchise is Arkham City and this game features more characters and is set 18 months after the events of the previous game. Batman in this game fights off different villains and must discover behind the sinister scheme, this game features an open world environment where players can roam freely as Batman.

Arkham Origins is my favorite entry in the franchise, and this game is a prequel to the previous entries and is set 12 years before the events of Arkham Asylum (first entry). This is also the first game in the series to feature multiplayer mode where players can enjoy this game with their friends. Arkham Origins features a young and less experienced Batman who has a Bounty on his head placed by none other than one of his foes named Black Mask. Batman must take down Black Mask while also fighting off lethal villains.

The final game in the franchise is Arkham Knight, and the dangerous villain Scarecrow makes a return in this game, Arkham Knight is set nine months after the events of Arkham City where Batman faces the mysterious Arkham Knight who aids Scarecrow, has a personal vendetta against our hero and seems to know all his secrets as well.

There’s a new video game being released in the upcoming year (2024) which is set a few years after the events of the Arkham franchise, and this game is called Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. The Arkham franchise is simply legendary, and we highly recommend every Batman fan to play at least a single entry as we’re sure that it will keep you hooked.

The gameplay of this game is smooth, plus it doesn’t feature an open-world environment like The Last of Us, but hey! do not worry as this game will keep you completely hooked on its storyline and gameplay mechanics as well.

Dying Light
Release DateJanuary 27, 2015
Developer(s)Techland
PlatformsPC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch

Dying Light is a great example of an action-adventure, zombie apocalypse game that is similar to The Last of Us, and the development of this game started back in 2012 after the tea completed the development of Dead Island.

The storyline of this staggering game features an undercover agent named Kyle Crane as the main protagonist. He is sent to infiltrate a quarantine zone in a fictional Middle Eastern city known as Harran.

Unlike The Last of Us, the game features a huge open-world environment where players can freely roam and do main missions or side quests. The day and night cycle in this game makes it special as the zombies in this game are clumsy and slow during day time while on the other hand, they’re fast and aggressive during nighttime, which is why players in this game don’t head outside after the sun sets.

The gameplay of Dying Light is in first person perspective, and players in this game can do loads of stuff such as parkour, fighting zombies, completing side quests, etc. The parkour elements of this game are really impressive considering the time this game was released.

Dying Light’s visual quality is stunning, and if you’ll be shocked if you turn up all the settings to ultra, the system requirements for this game aren’t that high as well, which means that even mid-range PCs can run this game flawlessly without facing any lags or stuttering issues.

Kratos, in this game, keeps his dark past’s secret away from his son, who is unaware of his divine nature and godly powers. Kratos and his son Atreus meet with a lot of problems and also come into conflict with monsters and gods of the Norse world.

God of War (2018) is played from a third-person perspective and unlike the previous games in the franchise, this game features an over-the-shoulder fixed camera. Although the previous installment that was released back in 2013 introduced multiplayer mode, this game supports only single-player.
