In this post, we will be listing down everything we know about the Sims 5 game from its speculated Sims 5 release date, gameplay, news, rumors, and leaks.

The Sims has been one of the most successful and loved life simulation video games. The first Sims game was released in the year 2000 and since then, the game has come a long way and has garnered a huge player base.

The franchise is one of the top 10 best-selling video games of all time with sales exceeding 200 million copies.

To date, EA has released four main The Sims titles and numerous spinoffs.

On noticing the release trend of the games you will see that a new Sims game hits the market after every four or five years – but it has now been more than eight years since the launch of The Sims 4 and we have not got The Sims 5.

The queries regarding one of the most anticipated games are only increasing and everybody is asking – Where is The Sims 5?

The Sims 5 Release Date

But, as of now, there is not much information available about the game and also there is no confirmed The Sims 5 release date (or Project Rene as it is officially being called). The game is still in its very early stages of development and we believe that the game is not coming anytime before 2024 winters.

At the Behind The Sims Summit Stream in October 2022, it was confirmed that EA and Maxis were officially revealing their next-generation Sims game, codenamed “Project Rene”. Maxis states that this phrase was chosen to symbolize renewal, renaissance, and rebirth of the franchise’s future. Rumors of a grand announcement had been circulating prior to this confirmation, which came true with the official press release.

Electronic Arts announced Project Rene as the next generation of The Sims game and creative platform, almost ten years after the release of The Sims 4. Though it’s far from launch—hence the codename instead of being called The Sims 5—the company provided some initial details.

The official description read –

The game will stay true to what The Sims has always been while pushing to evolve how those Sims think and behave. It will reimagine The Sims with even more ways to play, tools to encourage creativity, and the ability to tell meaningful stories. With Project Rene, players will have the choice to play solo or collaborate with others, and will have the ability to play their game across supported devices.

On October 18, 2022, Maxis declared that they are producing the next version of The Sims, titled “Project Rene.” The game will offer both solo and collaborative gaming and cross-play. Behind The Sims Summit Stream showed us a bit of what to expect from the most anticipated game, and it will surely bring joy to Sims Builders.

Unlike The Sims 4, it will provide more customizing options for furnishings in Room Customization, like enabling players to adjust patterns, colors, sizes, and even shapes of objects. Furthermore, they will be able to rotate, tilt and move cushions without using The Sims 4 cheats that usually alter the actual gameplay. Also, the buy-and-build mode is multi-player so gamers can personalize buildings together. Maxis stated that they are still working on this title and will give more information and updates shortly.

Behind The Sims Summit Stream Event

You can watch the official reveal of The Sims 5 after the 26-minute mark in the video embedded above. The vice president of franchise creative for The Sims, Lyndsay Pearson said that “We are building on the same foundation that has made The Sims compelling for generations of players and pushing the boundaries to create new experiences. We’ll have much more to share as we continue to progress on the game’s development and milestones along the way.” Pearson described the game as “the start of our journey over the next few years.”

At the Behind the Sims Summit in 2022, Maxis unveiled Project Rene, a working title for The Sims 5. Although Simmers will have to wait until launch to play it, Maxis stated that this is so they can use player feedback and share content to make this franchise installment more aligned with fan expectations than ever before.

The Sims 5 Leaks and Rumors

The Sims 5 Leaks & Rumors

Recently, EA Maxis revealed initial screenshots for Project Rene, the soon-to-be Sims 5. They wanted to include the community in its growth process. Now it appears that there was a Sims 5 playtest with leaked screenshots that showed a city environment with multiple apartments to construct.

Project Rene’s game files were supposedly hacked and leaked. Although the leaked screenshots are not that clear despite that, there’s sufficient material to excite Sims fans; some of these pictures have them anticipating that The Sims 5 will bring back an open-world environment.

As we’re probably years away from being able to play this version of the game, it’s highly likely that the assets presented in these screenshots will be significantly altered by the time EA is prepared to display more about their project.

The Sims

The hugely popular Sims franchise, developed by Maxis and published by EA, is one of the best-selling video game series of all time. The games in the series are sandbox-style and have no concrete objectives; players create virtual people called “Sims” and direct them to interact with their environment while satisfying their desires. Options for constructing or selecting pre-made homes are available, and each expansion pack increases what players can do with their Sims.

Guinness World Records has recognized The Sims with a variety of awards, such as “Most Expansion Packs for a Videogame Series” and “Best Selling PC Game Series”, due to the series’ success. Its lifetime sales exceed 200 million units, making it the 10th best-selling video game franchise overall. All The Sims games have earned more than US $5 billion in lifetime sales by October 2019.
